| Trait | a specific characteristic of an individual organazim |
| Variation | any differences in traits between individual organisms |
| Function | how something works |
| Protein molecule | a type of large molecule that preforms important functions inside organisms |
| Structure | the way something is shaped or constructed |
| Evidence | information about the natural world that is used to support or go against (refute) a claim |
| Gene | an instruction for making a protein molecule |
| Gene version | a specific form of gene that provides instructions for making a particular protein molecule |
| Mutation | a random change to a gene that sometimes results in a new trait |
| Heterozygous | having gene versions that are different |
| Homozygous | having gene versions that are the same |
| Inherent | to resive genes from a parent |
| Sexural Repoduction | the prosses in with two parents pass on their genes to create offspring |
| Allete | a specific form of a gene that provides instruction for making a particular protein molecule |
| Chromosome | a long peice of DNA that contains many genes |
| DNA | a type of molecule that genes and chromosomes are made of |
| Nucleus | the part of a cell where genes are found |
