Oceanic water cycle

terms specific to to the ocean

TermDefinition
Surface Current A strong flow of water near the top of the ocean. Wind usually makes the water move.
Tide When ocean water goes up and down. The Moon and the Sun pull the water with their gravity. This pulling makes the sea rise and fall.
Wave A moving hump of water. Wind blows on the ocean and makes the water move. The water rides along like a bump that travels across the sea.
Wave Height The top of the wave to the bottom of the wave is how tall the wave is.
Wavelength The space from one wave top to the next wave top.
