TermDefinition
Silk Road a network of trade routes that stretched across Asia from China to the Mediterranean sea
Standardization the process of making all things the same.
Heritage Things passed down from generations.
Import goods brought in from other regions.
Profit a financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something.
Daoism A philosophy that developed in China and stressed the belief that one should live in harmony with the Dao, the guiding force of all reality.
Public Works the work of building such things as roads, schools, and reservoirs, carried out by the government for the community.
Confucianism A philosophy based on the ideas of Confucius that focuses on morality, family order,social harmony, and government. Adopted by the Han dynasty.
Civil War a war between citizens of the same country.
Legalism The Chinese belief that people were bad by nature and needed to be controlled.
Philosopher a person engaged or learned in philosophy, especially as an academic discipline.
Export items sent to other regions for trade.
Militia a military force that is raised from the civil population to supplement a regular army in an emergency. That were volunteers.
Legends a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated.
Oracle a prediction by a wise person, or a person who makes a wise prediction.
Ancestors a relative who lived in the past.
Mandate of Heaven an ancient Chinese philosophical concept justifying a ruler's right to rule, believing power comes from Heaven
Pictograph a picture symbol
Ambassador an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country.
Bureaucracy a body of unelected government. picked by the president.
