| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Cell cycle | Interphase mitosis prophase mitosis metaphase anaphase mitosis tele phase cytokinesis |
| Interphase | The cell growth to it mature size makes a copy of its DNA and prepares to divide into two cells centrioles are also copied |
| Replication | The process by which a cell makes a copy of the DNA in its nucleus |
| Mitosis | The stage of the cell cycle during which of the cells nucleus divides into two new nuclei and one copy of the DNA is distributed into each daughter cell |
| Chromosomes | A doubled rod of contents chromatin contains DNA that carries genetic information |
| Cytokinesis | The final stage of the cell cycle in which the cells cytoplasm divide distributing the organelles into each other two new cells |
| Selectively permeable | A property of cell membranes that allows some substances to pass through while others cannot |
| Passive transport | The movement of materials through a cell membrane without using energy |
| Diffusion | The process of which molecules move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration |
| Osmosis | The diffusion of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane |
| Active transport | The movement of materials through a cell membrane using cellular energy |
| What takes place during the three stages of the cell cycle? | interphase mitosis cytokinesis |
| Draw and label the cell cycle | See notes |
| Explain DNA application and how it accounts for the way it copies itself | it reads it then copies it |
| Explain how materials move in and out cell | diffusion |
| Different types of membrane transport in how each works | Passive or active transport |
| Explain the difference between facilitated diffusion and diffusion | Facilitated diffusion is easier |
