| dessert | a biome that receives less than 10 in. of precipitation each year and usually has extreme temperatures. |
| succulent | a plant that can store water in its stem or leaves |
| Aquatic biome | all areas where life exits in water, largest biome |
| salinity | amount of salt dissolved in the water now aquatic biomes are characterized |
| Marine biomes | a name of a saltwater biome. The larges marine biome is the ocean. |
| Bioluminescent | describes an organism that produces its own light |
