TermDefinition
Plantation A large farm specializing in cash crops
Indentured servant A person contracted to work for 5-7 years in return for their journey to the colonies
Slave A person who is taken against their will and forced to a lifetime of servitude
Town Common The center of a New England village
Apprentice A person who learns a skill or trade from a professional
Import Goods brought in from other locations
Export Goods that are sent to other locations to sell or trade
Agriculture The business of farming and\or raising livestock
Colonial Assemblies Colonists elected to speak on behalf of the people to make laws for the colonies
Royal Governor A leader appointed by the King to enforce British rule in the colony
Surplus an extra supply of goods
Merchant a person who buys and sells goods a traveling trader
Natural Resources things found in nature that are beneficial to people
Colony A territory settled by people from another country and controlled by that country
