| Plantation | A large farm specializing in cash crops |
| Indentured servant | A person contracted to work for 5-7 years in return for their journey to the colonies |
| Slave | A person who is taken against their will and forced to a lifetime of servitude |
| Town Common | The center of a New England village |
| Apprentice | A person who learns a skill or trade from a professional |
| Import | Goods brought in from other locations |
| Export | Goods that are sent to other locations to sell or trade |
| Agriculture | The business of farming and\or raising livestock |
| Colonial Assemblies | Colonists elected to speak on behalf of the people to make laws for the colonies |
| Royal Governor | A leader appointed by the King to enforce British rule in the colony |
| Surplus | an extra supply of goods |
| Merchant | a person who buys and sells goods a traveling trader |
| Natural Resources | things found in nature that are beneficial to people |
| Colony | A territory settled by people from another country and controlled by that country |
