indentured servant a person contcontracted to work for 5-7 years in return for their journey to the colonies
slave a person who is taken against their will and forced to a life time of servitude
apprentice a person who learns a skill or trade from a professional in that area
town common the center of a New England village
import goods brought in from other locations
export goods that are sent to other locations to sell or trade
agriculture the business of farming and/or raising livestock
colonial assemblies colonists elected, to speak on behalf of the people, to make laws for the colony
royal governor a leader appointed by the king to enforce British rules in the colonies
surplus an extra supply of goods
merchant a person who buys and sells goods, a traveling trader
natural resources things found in nature that are beneficial to people
colony a territory settled by people from a country and controlled by that country
