13 Colonies

TermDefinition
Plantation A large farm specializing in cash crops
Indentured Servant A person who contracted to work for 5-7 years in return for their journey to the colonies
Slave A person who is taken against their will and forced to a lifetime of servitude
Town Common The center of a New England village
Apprentice A person who learns a skill or trade from a professional in that area
Import Goods brought from other locations
Agriculture The business of farming and/or raising livestock
Colonial Assemblies Colonists elected, to speak on behalf of the people, to make laws for the colony
Royal Governor A leader appointed by the king to in force British rule in the colonies
Surplus An extra supply of goods
Merchant A person who buys and sells goods
Natural Resources Things found in nature that are beneficial to people
Colony A territory settled by people from another country and controlled by that country
