Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) Optional coverage offered by rental companies to protect you from third-party claims (others' injuries/property damage) beyond the state minimums or your own policy's limits
American Automobile Association (AAA) a federation of motor clubs providing roadside assistance (like towing), travel planning, insurance, and member discounts on hotels, car rentals, and more
Amtrak an amphibious tracked vehicle used for landing assault troops on a shore
Boarding Pass a pass for boarding an aircraft, given to a passenger when the ticket is issued or upon check-in at the airport
Bumped move or travel with much jolting and jarring
Business Class a class of seating on an aircraft that is superior to economy class but less expensive than first class, intended especially for people traveling on business
Charter the reservation of an aircraft, boat, or bus for private use
Collision Damage Waiver optional agreement sold by car rental companies that waives your financial responsibility for damage to or theft of the rental vehicle
Connecting Flight you take one flight to an intermediate airport (layover) and then switch to a different plane (with a new flight number) to reach your final destination, involving changing terminals or gates, and possibly re-clearing security
Direct Flight you stay on the same plane with the same flight number from start to finish, but the aircraft makes one or more stops (for fuel, passengers, etc.) before reaching your final destination
Economy Class the cheapest class of air or rail travel
Excess Baggage Charge a fee airlines impose for luggage that exceeds your ticket's allowance in quantity, weight, or size
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) the U.S. government agency within the Department of Transportation that regulates and oversees all civil aviation
First Class of the best quality or in the highest grade
Motorcoach the best quality or in the highest grade
Nonstop Flight a flight that travels directly from the departure airport to the destination without any stops along the way
One-Way Trip traveling from Point A to Point B without a booked return journey
Open-Jaw Trip a round-trip ticket where the destination airport is different from the departure airport
Overbook accept more reservations for (a flight or hotel) than there is room for
Round-Trip a journey to one or more places and back again
Standby readiness for duty or immediate deployment
Tourist Destination a city, region, country, or specific place marketed and visited for tourism, offering attractions, infrastructure, and experiences
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) U.S. government agency within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responsible for securing all modes of transportation
