| Term | Definition |

| New moon | A phase of the moon, where the moon appears dark because it’s illuminated side is facing away from the Earth. The moon is between the sun and the Earth. |
| First quarter | A phase of the moon where we see half of the moon illuminated because it has completed 1/4 of its revolution around the Earth |
| Full moon | Affair of the moon with the moon appear, appears as a complete circle, because we can see the fully illuminated side |
| Last /third quarter | A phase of the moon where we see half of the moon illuminated because I completed 3/4 of its revolution around earth |
| Tide | Gravity from the sun and the moon pools on water on earth in a cyclical pattern, causing water to ride and fall along the coast |
| High tide | Occur occurs when water comes in line to its highest point along the shore |
| Low tide | Occurs when water receives to its lowest point along the shore |
| Daily tide | Coastlines along the ocean experience, two high tides and two low tides each day |
| Spring tide | Tides that occurred during new moon and full moon phases. High tides are higher and low tides are lower due to a stronger gravitational pull |
| Neap tide | Tide that occurred during the first quarter and third quarter moon phases. High tides are not as high and low tides are not as low due to a weaker gravitational pool. |
