Oral Cavity mouth
Pharynx the membrane-lined cavity behind the nose and mouth, connecting them to the esophagus.
Epiglottis a flap of cartilage at the root of the tongue, which is depressed during swallowing to cover the opening of the windpipe.
Esophagus the part of the alimentary canal that connects the throat to the stomach; the gullet. In humans and other vertebrates it is a muscular tube lined with mucous membrane.
Stomach breaks down food
Small Intestine Your small intestine (small bowel) is an organ in your gastrointestinal tract and is part of your digestive system. It breaks down food and fluid to absorb nutrients and water.
Duodenum the first part of the small intestine immediately beyond the stomach, leading to the jejunum.
Jejunum the part of the small intestine between the duodenum and ileum.
Ileum the third portion of the small intestine, between the jejunum and the cecum.
Cecum a pouch connected to the junction of the small and large intestines.
▪ Large Intestine Your large intestine turns food waste into poop.
Ascending Colon • the first main part of the large intestine, which passes upward from the cecum on the right side of the abdomen.
Transverse Colon s a section of the large intestine that runs across the abdomen.
• Descending Colon section of the large intestine that passes downward.
• Sigmoid Colon The sigmoid colon is the last section of the bowel — the part that attaches to the rectum.

Uvula a fleshy extension at the back of the soft palate which hangs above the throat.
Liver Your liver is located on the right side of your upper abdomen
Pancreas a large gland behind the stomach which secretes digestive enzymes into the duodenum. Embedded in the pancreas are the islets of Langerhans, which secrete into the blood the hormones insulin and glucagon.
o Appendix small, fingerlike tube located near the lower right part of your abdomen.
Upper esophageal it senses when food and liquid are coming. It relaxes and lets the food pass through to your stomach.
Lower esophageal (Cardiac) a high-pressure zone located where the esophagus meets the stomach
