what was Italo byzantine style? influenced by Byzantine art in Italy in the 12-13the century. It main characteristics were stylized figures, gold backgrounds, and religious iconography.
iconoclasm a movement in the Byzantine empire that destroyed religious figures to stop the worship of the icons instead of god himself. This meant the destruction of mosaics, and sculptures.
Pompeain house plans were inspired by who and why greek culture b/c during the Hellenistic era greek culture was spread. Romans admired greek art and architecture. A typical one had an atrium, fauces, cubicula, t,t, culina, hortus, exedra.
What is the qibla wall it is the wall in a mosque that faces the Kaaba in Mecca, indicating the direction of prayer. And the Kabba is a cube shaped building in Mecca.
interlace from medieval art, particularly from Europe and has knot like designs. Found in Anglo-Saxon and Celtic art in manuscripts, and metalwork such as Viking ship burial that had interlaced animals.
Romanesque styled church portals have? circular doorways, decorated entrance with door posts having sculptures.
Chartres Cathedral is an example of Gothic architectural style. Such as stained windows, pointed arches. Towers and spires, and interior decorations.
What is the International Gothic Style? Characterized by elegance, intricate patterns, and religous scenes.
