| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Mountains | form by movement of tectonics causing folding where the continental plates collide. |
| Plate boundaries | zone where 2 tectonics meet, causing earthquakes and other geological events |
| Richter scale | magnitude or how much shaking an earthquake is showing on a scale |
| epicenter | the plates on the surface above the break that caused the earthquake |
| convergent boundary | place where 2 tectonics collide |
| seismograph | instrument that measures earthquakes |
| focus | place underground where break happened that made earth quake |
| divergent plate | a geo feature, 2 tectonics move apart creating oceanic crust magma rises from mantle, then cools |
| subduction zone | geo area, one tectonic slides beneath another and sinks into earth's mantle |
| fault | edge of plate, fracture in earth's crust |
| mid ocean ridge | long underwater mountain made by volcanic activity and pulls at divergent boundaries |
