AP Psych- Memory (PROCESSING)

Procedural memory implicitly memory involves recall of how to perform tasks automatically (Skill Based Actions like driving, tying shoes)
Prospective Memory remembering to perform a planned action or recall a planned intention (ex. remembering to take medicine at noon)

Chunking process of taking individual pieces of info and grouping it into larger units
Mnemonics Encoding strategies used to organize material and make it easier together (Acronyms, Agonistic (using first letter to make sentence) songs, and rhymes)

Herman Ebbinghaus Distributed Practice, discovered "cramming" for a test was not effective
Distributed Practice spacing the study of material to be remembered by including breaks
Massed Practice cramming the memorization of info or the learning of skills into one session
Testing Effect long term memory is increased when you practice Retrieving the necessary info
