What is stroke volume? What is stroke volume? The amount of blood ejected by the left ventricle per beat (avg ~70 mL).
What does the SA node do? It acts as the heart’s natural pacemaker, initiating each heartbeat.
What is tidal volume? The amount of air inhaled or exhaled during normal breathing (~500 mL).
Where does gas exchange occur in the lungs? In the alveoli.
What hormone regulates water reabsorption in the kidneys? ADH (antidiuretic hormone), which increases water reabsorption in the collecting ducts.
What is the primary function of the nephron? Filtering blood and forming urine through filtration, reabsorption, and secretion.
Which hormone lowers blood glucose levels? Insulin.
Which hormone increases blood calcium levels? Parathyroid hormone (PTH).
What is metabolic acidosis? A condition where the blood pH decreases due to low bicarbonate or increased acid.
