Prac Exam UL/LL Test

Return to sport testing

QuestionAnswer
What are the 5 UL RTS Functional Tests 1. Closed kinetic chain upper extremity stability tests 2. Seated shot put test 3. Athletic shoulder (ASH) test 4. Posterior shoulder endurance test 5. One arm hop test
What are the 5 LL RTS Fucntional Tests 1. Timed 6m hop test 2. Triple hop for distance 3. Cross-over hop for distance 4. Side-hop test 5. 505 agility test
What do you use to measure the outcome of the test? The limb symmetry index which is calculate by dividing the score of the affected limb by the average score of the unaffected limb, and then multiply by 100 to get a percentage
What do you want to achieve between limbs with the LSI scoring? a difference of 10% e.g. 90% of the good limb
What are the instructions for the Closed kinetic upper extremity stability test? and what is it testing? Measure of upper extremity stability & speed. Perform in push up position with hands 36inches apart. Athlete reaches across and taps other hand for as many reps in 15secs. 45sec rest with 3 sets get average score 21 reps to RTP, 25 for RTS
What are the instructions for the seated single arm shot put? and what is it testing? Measure of upper quadrant strength and power. Sit athlete with back against wall, knees bent, feet flat, push 2kg med ball from shld level, max horizontal distance. 3 maximal efforts and average distance recorded. - arm length. 3-13% asymmetry expected
Athletic Shoulder (ASH) Test - what is it testing, what are instructions Measure of strength in functional positions (I, Y and T) Athlete lies prone and performs 3secs iso hold at three angles (180, 135, 90). 3 reps at each 20 rest, LSI within 10%
Posterior Shoulder Endurance Test - what is it and instructions Measure of endurance of post shld. Lies prone with arm off edge of table to 90deg holding DB 2% of BW, hold until failure, record time. LSI 10%
One-Arm Hop Test - what is it and instructions High level, closed chain assx measuring stability, power, impact tolerance. Push up to 10.2cm step and then off 5 x as quickly as possible. expected asymmetry 4.4secs between sides
Timed 6m Hop Test - what is it measuring and instructions Assesses power and speed. Athlete hops forward as fast as possible on SL over 6m. record time, LSI >90%
Triple Hop for distance - what is it measuring and instructions Assesses strength/power, coordination, stability, ability to absorb force on landing, reactive strength. Athlete to stand on one leg and hop 3 successive hops as far as possible and must stick landing for 2secs. LSI >90%
Cross over hop for distance - what is it measuring and instructions Assesses coordination and strength in multiple planes. Athlete performs three hops as far as possible with each hop crisscrossing in a medial to lateral direction over a 15cm line, stick landing.>90% LSI
Side hop test - what is it measuring and instructions Measure of stability, balance, strength, balance, strength, agility. Athlete to hop 10 times in each direction over 30cm for 20hops. 2 trials 1min rest. Fastest time. Cut off score 10secs (healthy)
505 agility test - what is it measuring and instructions Assesses COD, accelerate/decelerate. Athlete sprints to 15m line, turns 180 and sprints back 5m. Start timing on 5m line. foot must touch line, 3 x with 2-3mins rest between trials. fastest time recorded. 1.5-3s.
