Plinian eruption large explosive volcanic event
Dike wall-like body of igneous rock that cuts across existing rock layers
Sill tabular sheet of igneous rock intruded between and parallel with the existing strata
Pluton magma that rises from mantle and cools and crystallizes deep within crust
Lava Tube natural conduit formed by flowing lava that leaves a hollow cave after molten lava drains away
Fumarole opening in or near a volcano through which hot sulfurous gases emerge
Plume towering column of ash gas and rock fragments
