abduction movement away from the median plane
adduction movement toward the median plane

flexion to bend
pronation turning the hand so the palm faces down or backward (also refers to lying face down)
rotation motion around the central axis
supination turning the palm or foot upward ( also lying face up)
scoliosis lateral curvature
lordosis "swayback" inward curvature of the lumbar area
kyphosis "hunchback" rounded bowing of the thoracic area
simple fracture broken bone that does not pierce the skin
compound (open) fracture broken bone that pierces the skin
incomplete ( greenstick) fracture bone bends and fractures but doesn't completely break
comminuted fracture bone shatters into three or more pieces
spiral fracture caused by twisting motion
