Saliva function lubricates and dilutes food, enzymes start digestion of starch, digest some fats
Gastric juice function Digest protein, protects stomach lining, dilutes food
pancreatic juice function digest proteins, polypeptides, some lipids, fats, RNA & DNA, starches, dilutes and lubricates food
Bile function Emulsify lipids, lubrication, breakdown of substances not needed to be exerted w/ feces
Intestinal juice function Lubrication, carry mucus and sodium bicarbonate
Gastrin function Stimulates secretion of gastric juice rich in pepsin and hydrochloric acid
Gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP) inhibits gastric secretion and motility, enhances insulin secretion by pancreas
Secretin function Inhibits gastric secretion, stimulates secretion of pancreatic juice,, enhances effects of CCK
Cholecystokinin (CCK) Stimulates ejection of bile from gallbladder and secretion of pancreatic juice
B12 function Involved in blood production
