TermDefinition
Dendrites Branch-like parts of a neuron that receive messages.
Synapse Tiny gap where neurons pass messages using chemicals.
Photoreceptors Cells in the eye that detect light.
Olfactory receptors Nose receptors that detect smell.
Hormone Chemical messenger that travels in the blood.
Atria Upper chambers of the heart that receive blood.
Ventricles Lower chambers that pump blood out of the heart.
T cells Immune cells that attack infected or abnormal cells.
B cells Immune cells that make antibodies.
Alveoli Tiny air sacs where gas exchange happens.
Smooth muscle Involuntary muscles in organs.
