What is the function of the sodium potassium pump and neurons? It maintains resisting membranes potential by pumping 3 Na+ out and 2k+ into the neuron.
What is an action potential? A rapid electrical signal that travels along the axon when a neuron fires.
What organs make up the central nervous system? The brain and spinal cord
Which division of the autonomic nervous system prepares the body to fight or flight? The sympathetic nervous system
Which sensory receptors detect light for vision Photoreceptors in the retina (rods and cones)
What gland is known as the master gland of the endocrine system? The pituitary gland
What structure acts as the hearts, natural pacemaker The sinoatrial SA node
What is the primary function of the lymph node? To filter, lymph and active immune responses to fight infection
Where does gas exchange occur in the lungs? In the Alveoli, where O2 enters the blood and CO2 is released
Where does most nutrient absorption occur in the digestive system? In the small intestine
