| Permissiveness | When one hormone allows another hormone to work better. |
| Hemodynamics | The study of how blood flows through the heart and blood vessels. |
| Lymphotoxin | A chemical made by certain immune cells that helps destroy harmful cells. |
| Spleen | An organ that filters blood, stores extra blood, and helps fight infection. |
| Bicarbonate | A substance in the blood that helps control and balance pH. |
| Alveolar pressure | The air pressure inside the tiny air sacs (alveoli) in the lungs. |
| Deglutition | The medical term for swallowing. |
