| Lymph Nodes | bean-shaped immune system filters found in clusters throughout the body that trap germs, viruses, and waste from lymphatic fluid, activating white blood cells to fight infection |
| Hematopoiesis | the body's process of creating new blood cells (red cells, white cells, platelets) from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the bone marrow |
| Tonsils | lymph nodes at the back of the throat that act as a first line of defense, trapping germs like bacteria and viruses to prevent infection |

| Natural killer cells | innate immune white blood cells that rapidly identify and destroy stressed cells, like virus-infected cells and tumors, without prior sensitization |
