Lymphatic Pump a device that uses air-filled chambers in sleeves or garments to apply rhythmic, sequential pressure to limbs, helping to move stagnant fluid (lymph) out of swollen areas
Lymph Nodes bean-shaped immune system filters found in clusters throughout the body that trap germs, viruses, and waste from lymphatic fluid, activating white blood cells to fight infection
Hematopoiesis the body's process of creating new blood cells (red cells, white cells, platelets) from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the bone marrow
Tonsils lymph nodes at the back of the throat that act as a first line of defense, trapping germs like bacteria and viruses to prevent infection
Thymus a vital primary lymphoid organ in the upper chest,
Spleen a fist-sized organ in the upper-left abdomen, part of the lymphatic system, that acts as a blood filter, removing old red blood cells, platelets, and germs, while also storing blood/iron and producing immune cells
Lymphoid Organ key parts of the immune system that produce, mature, and store immune cells (lymphocytes) and filter pathogens
Lymphoma cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system, occurring when infection-fighting white blood cells
Lymphangitis the inflammation of lymphatic vessels, usually from a bacterial infection (like strep) spreading from a skin wound, bite, or infection (like cellulitis)
Natural killer cells innate immune white blood cells that rapidly identify and destroy stressed cells, like virus-infected cells and tumors, without prior sensitization
