alveolus literally, a small cavity, alveoli of lungs are micrscopic saclike dilations of terminal bronchioles, gas exchange in the lungs occurs across the membranes of the alveoli
bronchial tree the trachea, two primary bronchi, and their many branches
concha scroll-shaped bone that forms a ledge projecting into the nasal cavity from it's lateral wall
costal surface region of the lungs that lies against the ribs, rounded to match contour of thoracic cavity
epiglottis lidlike cartiglage overhanging the entrance to the larynx
hilum slit on medial surface of each lung where primary bronchi and pulmonary vessels enter ; slit on medial surface of each kidney where blood vessels and other structures enter the kidney
larynx voice box located just below the pharynx, the largest piece of cartilage
oropharynx portion of the pharynx that is located behind the mouth
pharynx tubelike structure that extends from the base of the skull to the esophagus, also called the throat
primary bronchus either of the two branches of the trachea that entersn the lungs
