What is a synapse? The junction where neurons communicate through neurotransmitters
Where is the myleination and why is it important? Myelin insulates axons and speeds up electrical signal transmission
What is osmolarity? The concenatration of solutes in body fluids ( Helps regulate water movement)
How does aldosterone regulate fluid balance? It increase sodium reabsorption in the kidneys
What is tidal volume? The amount of air inhaled or exhaled during a normal breath
What is spermogensis? The process of sperm production that occurs in the seminiferous tubules of the testes
What is the menstral cycle regualated by? Hormones from the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and ovaries
Where does gas exchnage occur? In the alveoli through diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide between air and blood
What is the main function of the ovaries? To produce ova and secrete the hormones estrogen and progesterone
What drives air into the lungs during inspiration? Diaphragm contraction creates lower pressure in thoracic cavity, pulling in air
