| Neurotransmitters | are the means by which neurons talk to one an-other. |
| Pons | a part of the brainstem crucial for relaying signals, sleep, and controlling functions like breathing, facial expressions, and balance |
| cerebellum | a crucial brain structure at the back of the head, responsible for coordinating voluntary movements, posture, balance, and speech |
| Acetylcholine (ACh) | a vital neurotransmitter and neuromodulator, acting as a chemical messenger for nerve cells, crucial for muscle contraction |
| thalamus | a dumbbell-shaped mass of gray matter made up of many nuclei. |
| Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) | promotes and maintains the growth and development of its target gland (the thyroid). |
| Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) | stimulates structures within the ovaries, primary follicles, to grow toward maturity. |
| Oxytocin | stimulates rhythmic contraction of smooth muscles in the uterus, and it causes milk ejection from the breasts of lactating women |
