Abdominal aorta the largest artery, a continuation of the aorta extending from the diaphragm through the abdomen

chemoreceptor reflex a physiological mechanism that adjusts breathing and heart rate to maintain proper blood oxygen, carbon dioxide, and pH levels
end-diastolic volume (EDV) end-diastolic volume (EDV)
carotid sinus reflex a homeostatic mechanism that helps regulate blood pressure and heart rate by using stretch receptors in the carotid sinus.
What does medullary ischemic reflex result in? a powerful, protective increase in blood pressure and heart rate to restore blood flow to the brain
aggregated lymphoid nodules also known as Peyer's patches, are patches of lymphoid tissue in the lining of the small intestine that are crucial for the immune system
iliac lymph node Lymph nodes in the pelvis, located along the iliac arteries filtering lymph from the legs, lower abdominal wall, and pelvic organs like the bladder, rectum, and reproductive organs, playing a key role in immunity and cancer spread
antigen a toxin or other foreign substance which induces an immune response in the body, especially the production of antibodies.
macrophage a large phagocytic cell found in stationary form in the tissues or as a mobile white blood cell, especially at sites of infection.
immunocompetence the ability of the immune system to produce a normal and effective response to pathogens.
