What are the roles of the sympathetic and parasymphateic divisons of the ANS? Sympathetic triggers fight or flight response while parasympathetic promotes rest and digest
How do sensory recepotos conver external stimuli into nerve impulses that the brain can interpret? Sensory receptors detect physical or chemical stimuli and convert them into electrical signals through transduction
How does the endrocine system regulate long term processes like growth, metabolism and stress. The endocone system releases hormones into the bloodstream, producting slower but longer lasting effects.
Describe the cardiac cycle The cardiac cyle include atrial contraction, ventricular contraction and relaxation
What are the main components of blood? Red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma
How does the lymphatic system maintain fluid balance and support immune responses The lymphatic system returns excess interstitial fluid to the bloodstream and houses lymphocytes that help detect and fight pathogens.
Explain how gas exchange occurs in the lungs and tissues? Gas exchange occurs by diffusion across alveolar and capillary membranes.
How are nutrients digested and absorbed in the GI tract> Digestion begins in the mouth and stomach while chemical digestion and nutrient absorbition occurs in the small intestine.
How do the jkidneys and lungs work together to maintain fluid balance> The kidneys regulare fluid volume and excrete hydrogen or bicarbonate ions while the lungs control co2 levels helping to maintain normal blood pH.
