What do nutrients give your body? Energy (ATP
Why does our body need energy (ATP)? To carry out life's functions and maintain homeostasis
What are the two types of digestion? Mechanical and Chemical Engineering

Second stop: Esophagus: What happens in the esophagus? Moves food to the stomach by peristalsis (muscle contractions)
Third Stop: Stomach. What happens in the stomach? Muscular sac that turns food into chyme. Uses chemical (digestive juices), and mechanical (peristalsis) digestion
Fourth Stop: Small Intestines. What happens in the small intenstines? It's long, skinny tube that is the main same site of nutrient absorption. Has many blood vessels.
Fifth stop: Large Intestines. What happens in the large intestines? Absorbs water from undigested chyme
Sixth stop: Rectum and anus. What happens in the rectum and anus? Controls the release of solid waste (feces) from body
Liver. What does the liver do? Makes bile (helps digest fats.)
