QuestionAnswer
Central Nervous System (CNS) The CNS is made of the brain and spinal cord. It controls most of the actions your body does.
Neuron A neuron is a nerve cell that sends messages through your body. It helps you feel, move, and think.
Neurotransmitter A neurotransmitter is a chemical that carries messages between neurons. It helps the body respond fast to things around you.
Reflex Arc A reflex arc is the path a message takes during a quick reaction, like pulling your hand from something hot. It helps protect your body from danger.
Dermatomes Dermatomes are skin areas that get feeling from specific nerves. Doctors use them to find nerve problems.
Systolic Blood Pressure This is the top number in a blood pressure reading. It shows the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats.
Diastolic Blood Pressure This is the bottom number in a blood pressure reading. It shows the pressure when your heart relaxes between beats.
Lymphatic System The lymphatic system helps remove extra fluid from your tissues and sends it back into your blood. It also helps your body fight germs.
Respiratory System The respiratory system helps you breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. It keeps your cells supplied with the air they need.
Digestive System The digestive system breaks down food so your body can use the nutrients for energy and growth. It moves food through organs like the stomach and intestines.
