nucleus the center of an atom which contains the protons andneutrons
proton a positively charged particle in located on in nucleus
neutron a neutral particle located in the nucleus
electron a negatively charged particle located in the shells surrounding the nucleus
atomic weight the average weights of atoms for an element
atomic number the number of protons in an atom
atomic mass the combined weight of the protons and neutron in an atom
isotopes an atom with the same atomic number but with a different number of neutrons in the nucleus
