Osteoblasts Bone-forming cells that build new bone tissue
Osteoclasts Bone-resorbing cells that break down bone matrix
Sliding Filament Theory How muscles contract when actin and myosin slide past each other.
Neuromuscular Junction Point where a motor neuron stimulates a muscle fiber using acetylcholine.
Action Potential A rapid electrical signal that travels along a neuron
Synapse The junction where neurons communicate using neurotransmitters.
Mechanoreceptors Sensory receptors for touch, pressure, and vibration.
Photoreceptors Rods and cones in the retina that detect light.
Negative Feedback Hormonal regulation that maintains homeostasis by reversing changes.
Hormone Receptors Proteins on cells that allow specific hormones to bind and have an effect.
