| Assault | act of threatening to physically harm someone, or an act that inflicts physical harm |
| battery | the intentional, harmful, or offensive physical contact with another person without consent |
| conversation | a dialogue between two parties |
| damages | monetary compensation awarded by a court to a party who has suffered loss or injury due to another's wrongful conduct |
| defamation | a false statement of fact that harms another person's reputation and is communicated to a third party |
| evidence | any fact or information, including testimony, documents, or physical objects, that is presented in a legal proceeding to prove or disprove a claim. |
| false imprisonment | the unlawful and intentional confinement or restraint of a person against their will without legal authority |
| Fraud | the intentional use of deceit to deprive another of property, a legal right, or to gain an unjust advantage, causing injury or loss |
| intentional tort | a wrongful act committed on purpose that causes harm to another person or their property |
| invasion of privacy | the intentional and unjustified intrusion into an individual's private life, which can lead to a lawsuit for damages |
| judgment | a formal decision by a court that resolves a legal dispute by determining the rights and obligations of the parties involved |
| negligence | the failure to exercise the degree of care that a reasonable person would use in the same circumstances, resulting in harm to another |
| strict liability | a legal doctrine that holds a party responsible for damages or injuries caused by their actions or products, regardless of whether they were negligent or at fault |
| subpoena | a formal, written order from a court or government agency that commands a person to either appear to testify as a witness or to produce documents or other evidence for a legal proceeding |
| testimony | a formal statement of fact, spoken or written, given under oath during a legal proceeding to serve as evidence |
| tort | a body of civil law that deals with remedies for private wrongs or injuries, other than breach of contract, for which a victim can seek monetary damages from the at-fault party |
| trespass to land | the unlawful entry, remaining on, or projecting an object onto another person's property without permission |
| Verdict | the formal decision of a judge or jury that resolves the issues of a trial |
| witness | a person who gives evidence in a legal proceeding, either by testifying in court or by signing a document to attest to its execution |
