What is an action potential? A rapid change in electrical charge that travels along a neuron.
What is the function of the autonomic nervous system? It controls involuntary activities like heart rate, digestion, and breathing.
What structure in the eye regulates the amount of light entering? A: The iris. The iris.
What is the function of the cochlea? It converts sound vibrations into nerve impulses.
What gland is known as the “master gland”? The pituitary gland.
What hormone lowers blood glucose levels? Insulin.
What is an antigen? A foreign substance that triggers an immune response.
What is the main function of the lymphatic system? To return fluid to the bloodstream and support immunity.
What is systolic blood pressure? The pressure in arteries when the heart contracts.
What is the SA node? The heart’s natural pacemaker.
What is tidal volume? The amount of air inhaled or exhaled during normal breathing.
What structure is the main site of gas exchange? The alveoli.
What is peristalsis? Wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract.
What is the function of the nephron? To filter blood and form urine.
