| Electrical Synapse | Two cells are joined end to end by gap junctions. They occur between cardiac muscle cells and between some types of smooth muscle cells. |
| Thalamus | dumbbell-shaped mass of gray matter made up of many nuclei. |
| Lumbar Plexus | A spinal nerve plexus. It is formed by intermingling of fibers from the first four lumbar nerves. |
