| Digestion | The process of breaking down food into nutrients the body can use. |
| Absorption | When the small intestine takes in nutrients from food and sends them into the bloodstream. |
| Alveoli | Tiny air sacs in the lungs where oxygen goes into the blood and carbon dioxide comes out. |
| ventilation | The movement of air in and out of the lungs when we breathe. |
| lymph | A clear fluid that carries immune cells and helps remove waste from tissues. |
| lymph nodes | Small glands that filter lymph and help the body fight infections. |
| Circulation | The movement of blood through the heart and blood vessels to deliver oxygen and nutrients. |
| Red blood cells | blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body |
| Hormone | A chemical messenger made by glands that help control body function like growth and metabolism |
| Thyroid gland | A gland in the neck that controls energy levels, metabolism and body temperature. |
