What is the main function of the Sodium-Potassium pump? It maintains an imbalance in the distribution of positive ions, resulting in the inside surface becoming slightly negative with respect to its outer surface.
What are the functions of cerebrospinal fluid? 1. Provides a supportive, protective cushion for the spine. 2. Serves as a reservoir of circulating fluid, which is monitored by the brain to detect changes in the internal environment.
Where is cerebrospinal fluid found? (fluid spaces) Within the subarachnoid space around the brain and spinal cord and within the cavities and canals of the brain and spinal cord.. In the ventricles within the brain (there are 4).
Where does the spinal cord lie? Within the spinal cavity and extends from the foramen magnum to the lower border of the first lumbar vertebra.
Lateral spinothalamic tracts detect crude touch, pain, and temperature.
Vestibulospinal tracts are responsible for coordination of posture and balance.
Components of the brainstem include the medulla oblongata (lowest part), the pons (above medulla), the midbrain (above the pons).
Functions of the Cerebellum Acts with cerebral cortex to produce skilled movements by coordinating the activities of groups of muscles, controls skeletal muscles to maintain balance, controls posture, processes sensory information.
