QuestionAnswer
What are action potentials? A rapid electrical impulse that travels along the membrane of a neuron or muscle cell.
What is the all-or-none principle of action potentials? A neuron either fires complete action potential or does not fire at all.
What are the two parts of the autonomic nervous system? The sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.
What is the sympathetic nervous system responsible for? The “fight or flight” response.
Are there more senses than the traditional 5? Yes
What is the name of the sense responsible for balance? Equilibrioception
What are a few health issues that can occur if our endocrine system is compromised? Diabetes, osteopenia, and thyroid diseases.
What is Angiotensin II responsible for? Our blood vessels constricting.
What is passive immunity? It is acquired when antibodies are transferred from one individual to another.
What are pulmonary function tests (PFT’s)? Tests providers run to evaluate lung function.
