Essay Terms

TermDefinition
Lead Attention grabbing beginning
Thesis Drives the essay. Includes a topic, claim, and evidence.
Topic The subject of the essay. One or two words.
Claim The point to be argued or supported.
Evidence Word for word proof to support a claim.
Introduction This paragraph is often made up of a lead, a link, and a thesis.
Body Paragraphs These paragraphs are often organized with RACE.
Transitions Connecting words.
Conclusion This paragraph usually has a bookend, a restated thesis, and a super so what.
