TermDefinition
Distributive property Multiplying each term in a sum or difference by a common factor does not change the value of the expression; a(b + c) = ab + ac.
Equation A mathematical statement that uses an equal sign (=) to show that two expressions have the same value.
Expression A group of numbers, variables, and/or operation symbols that represents a mathematical relationship.
Opposite numbers Numbers that are the same distance from zero on a number line but in opposite directions.
Product The result of multiplication.
Justify To explain why something is correct or incorrect by giving logical reasons.
