Nucleic Acid A long chain of nucleotides that stores and carries genetic information
Nucleotide A unit of DNA or RNA made up of nitrogenous base,a sugar and a phosphate
DNA bases DNA has 4 bases, adenine(A), thymine(T), cytosine(C), guanine(G)
Base pairs Double stranded nucleic acids like DNA that pair together. Adenine + thymine and guanine +cytosine
Purine A nitrogenous base that has a double ring structure( adenine and guanine)
Pyrimidines A nitrogenous base that has a single ring structure (thymine and cytosine)
RNA bases Adenine, cytosine, guanine and uracil
Comparing RNA and DNA DNA = double stranded,deoxyribose, found in nucleus/mitochondria/chloroplasts RNA = single stranded,ribose, found in nucleus,cytoplasm,ribosomes
