Insulin Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that lowers blood glucose levels by facilitating the uptake of glucose into cells.
What hormone does the parathyroid gland release? The parathyroid gland releases parathyroid hormone, which increases blood calcium levels.
Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH) ADH, also known as vasopressin, is a hormone released by the posterior pituitary that helps to conserve water by reducing urination.
What is the function of oxytocin? Oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions during childbirth and milk ejection during breastfeeding.
Prolactin Prolactin is a hormone released by the anterior pituitary that stimulates milk production in the breasts.
What does luteinizing hormone do in females? Luteinizing hormone stimulates ovulation and the production of progesterone in females.
Hypothalamus The hypothalamus is a brain region that serves as the master regulator of the endocrine system, controlling hormone release from the pituitary gland.
How does the autonomic nervous system connect with its peripheral effectors? The ANS employs a two-neuron pathway, with the neurons synapsing in a peripheral autonomic ganglion.
Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) The part of the nervous system that consists of the nerves and ganglia outside the brain and spinal cord, including the autonomic nervous system.
What is the main role of the autonomic nervous system (ANS)? The ANS regulates physiological processes necessary to life, including heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, digestion, and sweating.
