| Resting membrane potential (RMP) | The membrane potential maintained by a nonconducting neuron's plasma membrane |
| Local Potential | A slight shift away from the RMP in a specific region of the plasma membrane |
| Falx Cerebelli | Sickle shaped extension that separates the two halves, or hemispheres of the cerebellum |
| Tentorium Cerebelli | Separates the cerebellum from the cerebrum. It forms a tent like covering over the cerebellum. |
| Ramus | After each spinal nerve emerges from the spinal cavity, it forms several large branches, each of which is called a ramus |
| Postganglionic neuron | This second neuron conducts impulse away from the ganglion and into the effector |
| Cholinergic fibers | axons that release ACh |
| Receptor potential | Graded response, graded to the strength of the stimulus |
| Adaptation | The process by which of the magnitude of the receptor potential decreases over time in response to a continuous stimulus |
| General Sense Organs | Consist of microscopic receptors widely distributed throughout the body in the skin, mucosa, connective tissues, muscle, tendon, joints and viscera. |
