Left Ventricle Bottom left chamber that pumps oxygen-rich blood to the whole body.
Right Ventricle Bottom right chamber that pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs.
Left Atrium Top left chamber that receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs.
Right Atrium Top right chamber that receives oxygen-poor blood from the body.
Coronary Artery Blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle itself.
Apex The pointed tip of the heart at the bottom.
Superior Vena Cava Large vein that brings oxygen-poor blood from the upper body back to the heart.
Inferior Vena Cava Large vein that brings oxygen-poor blood from the lower body back to the heart.
Pulmonary Artery Carries oxygen-poor blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.
Pulmonary Veins Carry oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the left atrium.
Chordae Tendineae String-like cords that keep valves from flipping backward.
Papillary Muscles Muscles inside the ventricles that pull on the chordae tendineae to help valves open/close.
Septum Wall that separates the left and right sides of the heart.
Tricuspid Valve Valve between the right atrium and right ventricle.
Bicuspid/Mitral Valve Valve between the left atrium and left ventricle.
Aortic Semilunar Valve Valve between the left ventricle and the aorta.
Pulmonary Semilunar Valve Valve between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery.
Brachiocephalic Artery First major branch off the aorta that supplies blood to the right arm and right side of the head/neck.
Left Main Coronary Artery Main coronary artery on the left side that supplies blood to much of the heart.
Left Anterior Descending (LAD) Coronary Artery Branch of the left main artery; supplies the front of the heart (major artery often involved in heart attacks).
Circumflex Coronary Artery Wraps around the left side/back of the heart; supplies oxygen to the left atrium and ventricle.
Left Posterior Descending Coronary Artery Supplies the back/bottom part of the left side of the heart (only present in some people depending on dominance).
Right Coronary Artery (RCA Supplies blood to the right side of the heart.
