Untouchables Those whose occupations and habits of life involved ritually "polluting" activities
Reincarnation a Hindu and Buddhist belief that souls are born and reborn many times, each time into a new body
Vedas a collection of ancient sacred texts in Hinduism
Buddhism A religion based on the teachings of the Buddha that developed in India in the 500s BC
Caste system A hereditary, hierarchical social system that rigidly divides people into ranked groups
Arabic Numerals Numbers such as 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
