QuestionAnswer
What are body membranes Membranes that line the body cavities, cover surfaces, and protect organs, typically composed of epithelial and connective tissue layers.
What are serous membranes? line cavities not open to the exterior and consist of a parietal layer (lining the cavity) and visceral layer (covering the organ)
What are synovial membranes? Synovial membranes consist only of areolar connective tissue and line joint cavities and tendon sheaths, producing synovial for lubrication.
What occurs during the inflammation stage of tissue repair? Damaged cells release inflammatory chemicals, capillaries dilate, and white blood cells migrate to the area
What is granulation tissue? forms during the organization stage of tissue repair and is produced by fibroblasts that create collagen
Which tissues have good regeneration capabilities? epithelium, bone, areolar connective tissue, and dense irregular connective tissue.
What is the structure of a sarcomere? The Z line (boundary), A band (thick filaments), I band (thin filaments), H zone (thick only), and M line (holds thick filaments)
What is the role of ACh at the neuromuscular junction? ACh binds to receptors on muscle fibers, leading to depolarization and the spread of action potential through the sarcolemma.
What are the sources of ATP for muscle metabolism? includes creatine phosphate, anaerobic glycolysis and aerobic respiration.
How does the skin regulate temperature? The hypothalamus acts as the body's thermostat, sending signals for sweat production and vasoldilation/vasoconstriction.
