Adjectives DESCRIBE NOUNS OR PRONOUNS Words that describe nouns ex the blue dress blue is the adj.
cause and effect ...The reasons something happens and the effect is the result. ex. When I slipped, I broke my leg.
Characters/Hist. Fiction Some characters are real. Some are made up.
Dates/Hist. Fiction The months , days and years are real dates
Dialogue The conversation between characters in a play.
Diary You write about what happens to you daily. Ex. Dear Diary Sept. 10, 2010
Drawing Conclusions combining information from a story with information from your own experience to understand the real meaning of what an author has written
Events/Hist. Fiction Some events really happen ..others are made up
extended family a family consisting of the nuclear family and their blood relatives...ex..grandparents and aunts and uncles.
First Person Narrative a narrative or mode of storytelling in which the narrator appears as the 'I' recollecting his or her own part of the events related
flashback To tell something that happened to a character before the time that the story is set.
Future conditional tense It is used to describe what might happen in the future. It starts with if. The result ex. If Joe needs help,he will ask the teacher happens later. it has a verb referring to ex. If Joe needs help,he will ask the teacher
Historical Fiction A story based on history, but the characters and some of the events are not true.
inferences When you use what you already know to understand a reading.ex. raincoat that's wet=raining
interview Asking someone important questions:How?Where?Why?Who?When?
It's contraction for it/is ex. It's hot outside
its Shows possession.. ex Its ears are soft.
journal Is like a diary(private)but it is available for all to read.
