air traffic control the system that manages the movement of airplanes on the ground and in the air (ATC)
control tower the place at an airport where controllers can see the runways and manage takeoffs/landings
radio communication transmitting information using radio waves; used by pilots and early controllers
radar technology that uses radio waves to detect the location and speed of objects
antenna equipment that sends out and receives radio waves
receiver device that collects returning radio waves
controller a person who manages and directs airplane movement via radio.
airspace the region of the sky controlled or monitored by a specific facility
TRACON facility that manages departures and arrivals near airports (surface to ~14,000 ft)
ARTCC facility that manages aircraft at high cruising altitudes between airports
airspace the region of the sky controlled or monitored by a specific facility
local controller controller responsible for runway takeoffs and landings
ground control controller in charge of planes moving on the taxiways and ramps
