the study of magnetic forces.

| magnetic pole | one of the two opposite ends of the magnet |
| variables | something that can be changed and may be measured |
| isolate | to be separated |
| model | representation of a person or thing or of a proposed structure, typically on a smaller scale than the original |
| system | a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network. |
| magnetic fields | the space around a magnet in which magnetic forces can act on objects |
| magnetic field line | a line that connects opposite magnetic poles and represents the strength and direction of the magnetic field |

| energy | the ability to make things move or change |
| kinetic energy | the energy that an object has because it is moving |
