TermDefinition
What does the axial muscular system do? Supports and positions the head, neck, and trunk.
What does the appendicular muscular system control? Movement of the arms and legs.
Neuron A nerve cell that sends and receives electrical signals.
Neuroglia Support cells that protect, nourish, and repair neurons.
What organs make up the Central Nervous System (CNS)? The brain and spinal cord.
What is the main purpose of the endocrine system? To regulate body functions through hormones.
Pituitary Gland The “master gland” that controls other endocrine glands.
What is the function of the cardiovascular system? To circulate blood, oxygen, nutrients, and hormones throughout the body.
Alveoli Tiny air sacs in the lungs where gas exchange occurs.
What is the lymphatic system responsible for? Maintaining fluid balance and supporting immune defense
